We are delighted to welcome you to the joint DZIF / PEG Meeting 2026, “Bridging Disciplines in Infectious Diseases in the Era of Gender and Precision Medicine.”

This first joint congress of the German Center for Infection Research (DZIF) and the Paul Ehrlich Society for Infection Therapy e.V. (PEG) uniquely combines the entire range of infectious disease management research from the “bench to the bedside”. This meeting brings together leading experts and young scientists in infectious medicine with their fascinating research fields covering diverse pathogen- and host-associated topics. To address current advances and persistent challenges, the rapidly evolving fields of gender and precision medicine will form a central focus of this meeting.

The program reflects the complexity and interdisciplinary nature of contemporary infectious diseases research. Key topics include innovation in drug discovery, development and clinical implementation, the growing threat of antimicrobial resistance, climate-sensitive aspects of infectious diseases, and emerging insights into host–pathogen interactions. A particular focus is placed on gender-specific aspects in both immune responses and clinical trial design—an increasingly critical element in achieving personalized and equitable healthcare.

This meeting is designed to foster scientific exchange, stimulate new collaborations, and support the translation of cutting-edge research into medical progress. We especially encourage early-career investigators to actively participate and contribute to this forward-looking scientific community.

With best regards,
the Conference chairs
